We can’t say enough about our commitment to safety for our employees, our customers and our neighbors. At CHS, health and safety are top priorities in our operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Measures such as regular safety meetings, employee health programs, comprehensive disaster plans, and ongoing training help employees do their jobs safely. We want every employee to return home safely after work each day – and we want that for our patrons and community, too. That is the foundation of our ZERO Incidents safety goal at CHS.
We are excited to start our annual Community Youth Ag Safety Day program. In 2017, we teamed up with Progressive Ag. The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program is the largest rural safety and health education program for children in North America. Progressive Agriculture Safety Days are as fun as they are educational. These one-day events teach children lessons that help keep them and those around them safe and healthy. At a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day, participants are divided into small groups of 10 to 15 that rotate between stations such as PTO safety, ATV/vehicle safety, and other farm/home safety topics. To facilitate learning—educational, age-appropriate and fun hands-on activities and demonstrations are part of each lesson. Videos and extra information can be found at progressiveag.org or by contacting Kelly Archer, CHS River Plains Safety Manager.
