CHS is expanding capacity and efficiency at Winner, S.D. location to reduce wait times and provide additional market access for local farmers.

CHS Inc., the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative, is expanding capacity to improve efficiency at its Winner, S.D., location to better serve local farmers now and into the future.
The facility has increased its receiving capacity from 10,000 to 15,000 bushels per hour and is adding one million bushels of new bunker space. These improvements were made in an effort to reduce wait times for customers and enable the facility to handle more grain during peak harvest seasons.
“The Winner location is a strategic location for CHS in south central South Dakota, and these upgrades will help us keep up with our producers’ needs,” said Ross Keegan, senior director of operations at CHS River Plains. “The receiving upgrade in Winner has dramatically increased our receiving capacity, which should reduce wait times to dump grain and improve our customers’ experience when they come to our facility.”
The additional bunker space will give growers another place to unload during their busy harvest season, allowing them an opportunity to get back to the field quicker.
By optimizing its assets, CHS continues to strengthen its ability to provide market access and deliver more value for farmer-owners. The receiving capacity upgrade has been completed, and construction on the new bunker is expected to be finished yet this month.
The project also included the replacement of facility catwalks. These upgrades were added in an effort to create a more secure working environment for employees.
